My neighbors are collecting all their leaves for me, and dropping bags off on my driveway. I'm mulching and layering them with coffee grounds, as the base of my compost for the spring veggie garden.

Yesterday, I picked up about 40-50 lbs. more of coffee grounds to spread in my compost system. Hurray!

And, it's almost time for a curbside "leaf lift" in some other neighborhoods I pass through on a regular basis. All nice and bagged up, just sitting there, waiting for me, LOLOL!

Who else is doing this, and what kind of success are you having/have you had? I tip my hat to you.

Hugs!

It sounds like a great enterprise. I don't need to go looking; my farm provides more potential compost than I can keep up with.

Ditto here on the excess leaves. Thank goodness the trees are almost done dropping. I have filled up the back yard beds with mulched leaves and now it's back to the forest the leaves will go. It's getting pretty deep back there!

@gymgirl I've been too worried about oak wilt -- and that's going around big time in some areas -- don't know if it can be carried in the leaves or not.

It's a great day to have a great da
I am a leaf nut, too!
I cannot bear to see those bags sitting beside the curb, doomed to be wasted at the landfill.
so I pick them up!

I'm also fortunate to have a couple of yard maintenance guys who drop off leaves for me.

Our Starbucks claims that the health department won't let them distribute coffee grounds, since coffee grounds draw fruit flies.

Since they have to discard coffee grounds every day in one way or another, I wonder why the health department lets them serve coffee at all...

I do stop at every Starbucks I pass when I'm in other areas, & sometimes I get big bags of those wonderful grounds.

When I go to plant swaps, I tell people I'll trade plants for coffee grounds.

Irisfan,
Your Starbucks is lying to you...

There's a corporate policy regarding their endeavor to recycle this green product. Print it out, and carry it back to that store manager...if they don't cooperate, threaten to call the corporate office...

https://news.starbucks.com/new... I tip my hat to you.

P.S. CALL your local Health Department to see if it is, in fact, their policy to not let Starbucks save the grounds...
