I have some sticky traps on order. I have a big aphid and white fly problem right now in my greenhouse. I added 1500 ladybugs about a week ago and they have been feasting, but I don't know if they will be able to get the insects under control. If I put in sticky traps, will it catch the ladybugs? I wouldn't want that. They do fly around a lot. I've noticed them on my clothing when I go back into the house.

Tell me what sort of sticky traps you have coming, Karen? Unfortunately, regardless, your lady bugs will get stuck just like any other flying insect.

There really isn't a lot of information about them. Here is what I ordered:

That's what I'm afraid of.

I also just discovered what looks like black fungus on a plumbago in the greenhouse. I should probably get a systemic fungicide, right? Then I have the problem that I have lots of earthworms in my soil. Can they survive fungicides? This is my first winter with the greenhouse. I had a nice honeymoon period of a few months, but now it seems like there is a new problem a day! What makes it worse is that we aren't here all the time. We have to leave for up to 2 or 3 weeks at a time, and problems can get out of control quickly.

I have the yellow sticky cards, white sticky cards, and then I have blue sticky cards. Two-sided makes a little sense though. The colors are what attracts the insects, but I am quite sure that many are "captured" by accidentally flying onto the sticky surfaces. My cards do a great job but I don't have lady bugs, or at least only a few that make it into the greenhouses on their own.

I am going to hang some of the yellow sticky cards in my S room. I have a few persistent white flies and I am sure have some fungus gnats too.

Here is what part of a card looks like after 2 wks. I typically have six hanging in each greenhouse and they are all loaded with bugs after 4-6 months.

Your cards are doing a great job. that's what I want, but I've complicated things by putting in all the ladybugs.

My vents have been open for the last few days, so I'm slowly noticing that the ladybugs are leaving the greenhouse. Maybe I can use the traps a bit later when their population has thinned down. I'll have to read up on the fungicides to see if they will hurt earthworms.

I don't think the fungicides will harm earthworms. Perhaps if you really drenched the soil with the fungicide there might be a problem. I don't know that for sure though. Fungicides are typically just sprayed on the leaves. At least that's the only way I have used them.

Thanks, Ken. If they're just sprayed on the leaves, that would probably work. The one I was considering was a drench to the soil. I'll look for your type.
