Who do my fellow Canadian Hosta lovers recommend for their online purchases?

A few years ago I got nice roots from Vesey's.
They assured me that they are careful as to get virus free Hostas.

I would NOT buy from Vesey's. I wouldn't trust their stock to be free from viruses or even correct.

But there are many good Hosta nurseries which ship.

The ones I've used, in Ontario, are:

Goldenbrook - http://www.goldenbrookhostas.c...

Shades of Green - http://www.shadesofgreenhostas...

Hosta Choice - http://www.hostachoicegardens....

Gardens Plus in Peterborough - http://www.gardensplus.ca/ I've stopped by, but it appears that they do mail order.

These are three in the Ottawa area and I'm not sure how much mail order they do, but you could ask. All are wonderful hosta sources.

Rideau Woodland Ramble - http://www.rideauwoodlandrambl...

Whitehouse Perennials - http://www.whitehouseperennial...

Budd Gardens - http://www.buddgardens.com/ (I know Don Budd and while he doesn't make a big issue about mail order, I know he does some).

In the Maritimes, Fundy Beauties/Hosta Geek - http://hostageek.ca/

Thanks Ann. I am familiar with most you have listed; good to know they are recommended. I have tended to purchase locally in the past but for most of my "wants" it seems necessary to go to the specialized nurseries and to avoid HVX as well. I know I will spend many hours looking over all that is offered at those sites. Thanks again.

I totally agree with Ann, I will never buy another thing from Vesey's ever again. I have not gotten correct plants, bulbs, and the last straw, moldy roots, I complained on 2 occasion and I did get my money back.

This is what they sent me last spring, and they were all supposed to be yellow, well I got one root to grow and it was white!. Angry

I may be wrong, but I thought Naylor Creek was shipping to Canada? It might be worth checking out...They send big, beautiful plants.

They might, but the phyto-sanitary certificate would add so much to the cost of the plant that it would only be worthwhile for real collectors and for very special plants available nowhere else.
