I wish mine would bloom. I have had them for several years and not one bloom! Should I fertilize them? They gets lots of water and sun, so that's not the problem.

Mine seem to bloom best crowded in a pot overwintered dry in the basement. Out when spring is warm; usually in bloom before July. Then subsequently when rained upon.
They've been in the same pot for years. I've got them in pink, white, and yellow,

Love the blooms! hmmm...too bad, we do not get a lot of rainfall, except this time for now due to El Nino.

Just drench them periodically with a water bath, just about dry out, do it again.
They're a photogenic treat.

It's just the white ones that won't bloom for me. I have several other rain lily varieties that bloom well. The white ones are in the ground now, but I've also tried them in a pot. It's a mystery.

I purchased white Z. candida in 2014 and only saw 3 blooms (out of 10 bulbs) that summer. I grow them in pots and overwinter dry in the pots like jmorth. Last summer they produced many blooms throughout the summer. I'm guessing getting crowded in the pots helped. Last summer I was not good about keeping the potted plants fed like I do most years, not sure if they prefer very light feeding or if that was a fluke?

Don't pamper rain lilies and you should have lots of blooms. My candida generally don't bloom until August.

Same with mine...late summer.

Oh, so pretty. I'm jealous!

I've had white rain lilies (that I dug out of the roadside) that bloomed both in the spring with the rains and again in fall (rainy season). They naturalize readily here just like the red lycoris radiata. I don't have many now; I guess voles got them. I've never really seen them, but I seen suspicious holes every once in a while, like yesterday. I'm going to fill it with rocks to see if there is any activity. I recently received some white rain lilies as extras in a trade, which I will plant with grit, pepper and garlic. Wish me well in successfully getting blooms with the voles and squirrels around.

Before I moved last year, I had dug up a large patch of dormant Byzantine gladiolus and put them in a large oval tub. There were lots of bulbs in there. I left them in the tub until I finally decided where to plant them late last summer. That's when I discovered that there where no bulbs there! I had noticed some scratch marks in the soil, when watering other plants, but really hadn't considered that something was eating the bulbs. I managed to find 4 bulbs (they are very small) and am happy to say that they all are about 3 inches tall right now. I hope I get to keep them!

Mine started blooming late August and continued over into September.

I love seeing them growing in the grass! Can't do that here, but I've always thought they would be like summer crocuses.

Sondra, good save on the Byzantine glads! They multiply quickly, so it shouldn't take too long for them to clump up again. I have a little clump of them that came as a single corm that was in a bag of species tulips I planted. It was such a surprise, I hadn't noticed the difference in bulbs upon planting and noticed little glad leaves arise as the tulips were going dormant. A tiny, single Byzantine glad. That was about 7 years ago and here is how they looked last spring. Last fall I ran into the corms while planting other bulbs and spread them out more, so it will take them a year or two to clump up like this again.
