My neighbor and I went to our favoritve nursery today to find a houseplant for a pot she wants to fill. I came home with seven new plants! Good thing I bought a bunch of clearance pots over the holidays!

Aglaonema Siam
Thumb of 2016-01-30/jvdubb/a480f0 Thumb of 2016-01-30/jvdubb/4da911

Peperomia monticola 'Jayde' (it was listed as rare, hmmmm, a selling tool? )

Calathea concinna (never had an luck with these, going to try again)

Calathea ornata
Thumb of 2016-01-30/jvdubb/60b193

Peperomia 'Hope' (Sooo very happy to find this again! I got rid of my last one when it got buggy)
Thumb of 2016-01-30/jvdubb/7f6a8a

Sanseveria 'Fernwood' (My neighbor and I split this! Its really packed in there!)

And finally a mystery bromelaid. I have NO idea how to care for this. But it was so cool!

Lovely finds there Jennifer! I love all types of Sans! Am not good with Calatheas either, my area is not humidity rich. Keep us posted how it goes! I have never grown Aglaonema, looks really nice. I love variegated leaves. Lovey dubby

Jennifer, Wow ... looks like you've added some real beauties to your collection!! Your Aglaonema Siam looks like 'Siam Aurora' with those pinkish-red leaf edges ... really beautiful! I had a Peperomia back in 2006/2007 also called 'Jayde': Coin Leaf Peperomia (Peperomia polybotrya 'Jayde')

You should add some of your lovely photos to the plant database!
Peperomia monticola
Chinese Evergreen (Aglaonema 'Siam Aurora')
Calathea (Goeppertia albertii)
Pin Stripe Plant (Goeppertia ornata)
Peperomia 'Hope'
Snake Plant (Dracaena 'Fernwood')

Beautiful Bromeliad too but I don't know which one it is ... I always have trouble figuring out which is which when it comes to Broms! Does you plant have spines along the leaf edges/margins? I can't see any sign of tiny spines when I enlarge the picture. I think both Guzmania and Vriesea are spineless but there are probably many others that have few if any spines.

tarev, You should try an Aglaonema, they are really great house plants! I find them to be quite drought tolerant; I have a couple indoors and a couple out on my screened porch and I'm really lax about watering them. We have high humidity most of the year here but even the ones I keep inside the house seem to do better if I don't water them very often.

I love Aglaonemas! They are easy easy easy!! Just don't over water them. They take low light to bright light (maybe not direct hot sun). Hard to get good color in plants for low light. They fit the bill perfectly for me.

Lin I don't think my Aglaonema is Siam Aorora. More likely Siam Pink from what I see on the internet, if what I see is to be believed. I don't like to add things to the database unless I am positive of the id.

Jennifer, if you aren't sure of the Aglaonema cultivar name you can always upload photos to the general database entry for Aglaonema: Aglaonemas (Aglaonema)

And, if the Bromeliad is a Vriesea, here's the general entry for them: Bromeliad (Vriesea)

Oh my, I've been drooling at some of the plant photos at their website. I wonder where they are located, Thailand perhaps? When I click on the "About Us" I get nothing. I know they are a foreign firm because they state a Phyto certificate is required at $35 U.S. I guess it's a good thing they aren't a company in America or I'm afraid my pocket book would be depleted quickly. Green Grin!

LOL, I just went back to their page and poked around some more, yep ... they are in Thailand. I don't see any prices for the plants and when I click on "Order" it says Not Found. Confused

Wow! Lots ofAglaonemas! Thanks Lin for the info about their drought tolerance! That website is sure eye candy! Grown in Thailand, makes me apprehensive, similar conditions as in my old homeland..I wonder about the humidity. We have really bad humidity here. Will read more. Somehow the plant reminds me of hostas with so many varieties and variegations eh! I wonder if they are grown like Spathiphyllums?? Those I have been able to grow here, but really got to keep the media moist a lot, and can never be put outside here in summer, it will get fried in our dry heat.

But thank you so much Jennifer for sharing your nice haul! That is how I get into some other plants Hilarious!

Still need to make pebble trays for the Calatheas.

Regretting the Bromelaid.

Jennifer, I remember planting a Calathea when I went on vacation last Feb 2014 to visit my old homeland, the Phils. Really love the plant, but it does like very high humidity and some shade there. Here is how I planted the one I got at my mother in law's garden. Really wish I can grow it nicely here Sad
