I have a lot of bottles.....

But, I have never drilled glass.

A little afraid...any experience?
If yes, with a hand drill or drill press?

I go these photos from the internet. No credits.

Don't squat with yer spurs on!

People try to turn back their "odometers." Not me. I want people to know 'why' I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved

I've never done it either, but I can see that a lot of great things could be created! I have a plain old blue bottle tree, and I love bottles!
My husband has drilled glass for me. He used diamond drills and drilled with the bit and glass under water to keep it cool.

@grannysgarden

Bonnie, have you drilled bottles for any of your creations?
It’s okay to not know all the answers.

With a regular hand drill?

My husband has used his regular hand drill, and also a dremel drill in a drill press. It is a slow process, but can be done. I've drilled lots of ceramic pots so they could have drain holes.

Well, my DIL who works at food establishment can get the bottles..
So I guess have bottles will drill.
I will try. Do not mind buying a drill press but would like to try a bunch first with hand drill to see if I will stick with it.

I would like to make backdrop short fence.

I'd love to see what you make. It would take a lot of time, and for me, getting the holes to line up perfectly would be hard. I have problems even when I measure carefully!

Hope these pics come thru. Using cell phone. Friend uses drill press and broke a lot of bottles. I used the cheaper blue bud beer bottles instead of wine bottles. These fit the wheel and breakage is acceptable. BTW I live at The Bottle Tree Farm. Smiles

Those are great! Are they bike tires you used? I didn't know any beer came in blue bottles! Do they still sell it? Let's see more pics of the Bottle Tree Farm!

LOVE🎈❤️❤️❤️ Thank You!

I wonder if this addition would make my bike tire windmills get off kilter?

Bonnie - love your bottle wheels Thumbs up

Rosie - I didn't watch them but I did see you should use a diamond drill bit. I'm thinking they are tutorials.

Yes, I use bicycle wheels. There is a gentleman who puts wrecked bikes together for under privileged kids and he often cannot use a wheel because it is bent or rusted and I love rusted metal in the garden. These are really easy to put together it is only the bottles you have to work with.

Yes Bud Platinum comes in blue glass bottles. Here is a photo of my bottle rainbow using blue beer bottles and green spumante bottles.

Another thing you can do with bike wheels if you have some colored glass......

If anyone does come up with a good way to put holes in the bottom of bottles we do-it-yourselfers could stay busy for awhile.

Nice photos~! I'll have to get to town and find some Bud Platinum! I've been known to buy wine in blue bottles, mostly for the bottles! Here I go with the beer. Smiling
