@jungleshadows - is the presence or absence of cilia a valid way to try confirming semp ID? If a semp has it, will they always have it through all stages, seasons, conditions? (Shade, winter, potted etc) Example - Fair Lady. My last photo in the database - should I watch it to see if it develops cilia, or is it just the wrong semp? Looking forward to your book! Hurray!

Patty I wanted to get the answer to your question also so I'm 'watching this thread'
here is the ATP link

And here is what Sempervivum-liste.de shows
http://www.sempervivum-liste.d...

@Springcolor @Webesemps @goldfinch4 @valleylynn
Bev this is the plant you gave me that was labelled as 'Kismet' then Julia gave me 'Fair Lady' and I noticed they are identical - so your Kismet is actually 'Fair Lady'
Chris I think yours is probably wrong, even though I love the name for your semp, to me it fits better - simple and pinkish Thumbs up
Anyway waiting to hear Thanks Kevin I tip my hat to you.

I wonder if lighting can have an affect on how much Cilia a plant can have. Mines in full sun all summer.
Look how different they can look.

Yes, mine is definitely the wrong plant. Got it from North Hills Nursery in 2011. It will now be know as a fair NOID, not a Fair Lady!

Julia, where did you get your 'Fair Lady' from?
It looks like both Chris & Patty have the incorrect plant.
@Patty & @goldfinch4 do I have your permission to delete the incorrect ones?

I mentioned my pic in the question to Kevin so can we leave it till then? I'm sure it's the wrong semp too, but I still wonder about the cilia question Shrug!

Chris's pictures of the same plant where different. One had some cilia and the other which looked like a young plant had no cilia tufting.

Julia I noticed that also!! Odd, because they do look like the real 'Fair lady' in that first pic, but it could just be the photo?? Shrug!

I don't think any of Patty's photo look like the real 'Fair Lady'. She does have one photo that is correct, but that is one she posted that belongs to Fernwood.

Hi, I don't check every post, generally just the photos and chats for '16.

Cilia are a good marker although they area bit broken off/ warn off this time of year.
