I've thought about growing this salvia before, but always end up getting other ones instead. Maybe I'll grow it sometime. Beautiful bright blue flowers.

Yay!
This is one that I can grow Smiling survives my zone 5 winters in-ground, gets tall and grand, puts on a lovely end of season show 'til the first freeze with those gorgeous blue flowers, and helps the bees prepare for winter.
Here are a couple more pictures from last October

You should post the third photo to the DB as it gives a much better idea of its dimensions. Love the color and may have purchase based on written description but your photo helped me know its not a good fit here in HamiltonSquareGarden. Thank You. One less blue temptress. I tip my hat to you.

Boy, I've had it for 10 years and neither it nor any of its seedlings ever grew that big and lush. The soil where it is growing may be too barren.

Beautiful pics Dirt. Yes, thank you, I'd love some seeds. When and how deep do you sow them?

Oh the plant seeds itself, whenever it does, in the fall I presume and just on the surface Hilarious!
I can try to collect some next year--it requires a timing thing that I cannot promise to master given my work schedule though.
...but, I will have seedlings this spring

Leslieray, I think you should be tempted Hilarious!
I don't know, does it look bigger than it is? perspective can be funny thing--
It is supposed to get 36-48 inches (90-120 cm) tall--I'd say mine tops out around 50inches.
so sorry to recycle this picture, again--but to see it whole-- it is there behind the agastaches, to the left of the amaranth, not blooming yet--it is more than one plant in the clump. I planted two, together, and then it made more.
Thumb of 2016-02-06/dirtdorphins/ee8c7e
you can see one of the seedlings I missed --far left behind the origanum (purple thing) in front of the orange rock, more typical of an individual young plant.
My soil is lousy--this is a gravel, sand, and clay bed that got compost once a few years ago Shrug!

*Blush* Forgot you stated you had seedlings (babies) this spring and didn't say seeds, which would be even better.

If you can send one, I'll be very happy to mail a check for the postage. Thanks! Thank You! I tip my hat to you. Thumbs up

ha--okay--I usually just pull them and let them die Rolling my eyes. but I'll pot up a bunch for ya all instead Thumbs up
I did pot up a handful last year--they did well in spite of my neglect, but I never figured out where I wanted them so they are still in the pot--curious to see if they will have survived the winter that way

I am interested in knowing if they survived, myownself, Dirt. I have two potted Victoria Blue Salvias that go dormant most Winters, but come right back up every Spring. It would be good information to have given the differences in our areas. Thumbs up
