It is one of Kevin Vaughn's first hybrid semps. I am so happy to have it in my collection. It is a stunning plant out in the beds.

I think that one has to be my initiation plant. Going to go find a vendor.

Right now your weather is similar to ours. I was wondering what your summer weather is like? You might have to grow it in a container, so you can move it around until you find an happy place for it. I think you summers are much harsher than ours.

They are harsh, so that is a good idea. Thank you.

Just want you to know that your summer weather could be quite hard on semps. Filtered sun, dappled shade should work.

That was one Polly looked at as a seedling and said WOW. When Ed Skrocki got he he called and said "you have me beat!".

This was from an open pollinated stalk on 'Silverine', but Id bet the ranch the other parent is 'Cleveland Morgan'. I have seen it get to 9" in diameter. One of the happier velvety ones in wet conditions.

Kevin I went out last night, in the dark with a flashlight, to look at my 'Lipstick'. It is one of my semps that seems to have not trouble at all with our very long winter/spring wet season. It is looking very good. I'll get a photo some time today.

I love these "semp of the day" threads. I hope to start a few myself maybe next year after (knock on wood) my European order comes in and grows out. In fact, I'm expecting to see a virtual avalanche of photos coming up after we (knock on wood again) get our new plants.
