Cut the affected part off, do small pieces at a time - cleaning the knife between cuts - until you have white tissue. At least it will branch from the old leaf scars.

Mark and Lucky, cutting the rot away is nothing more than what I do when taking cuttings of a healthy plant. Either way, you'll be left with a stub. Where the cuttings are taken will not only heal but more often than not, branch. Of course the difference is that I would never take cuttings in the winter months. But when rot is found, well, the cutting back must be done.

I almost lost this cutting last year and chopped off a huge chunk from the bottom and was able to save it for one season...and now the tips are black Crying ...this is what she produces

There are varieties that are less happy in certain climates. There comes a point when you have to give up.
We have beautiful Singapores here yet everyone in California says they blacktip there. And I'm sure the reverse is true for some others. Shrug!

You might want to spread that test towards Mississippi as well, Hetty. Never had a Singapore, standard or dwarf. Crying
