As a comment about Pink Sand Verbena (Abronia villosa), plantmanager wrote:

This plant is considered a weed by most people in our area. I love it, and often will transplant them to better spots around our place. They transplant easily and keep on blooming for months. It's such a wonderful bit of color and doesn't require much water at all. Our landscape is overrun with deer, rabbits and Javelinas, but they don't look twice at these little flowers.

Thanks for sharing. I'm always looking for plants that the deer, rabbits, and other hungry varmints won't eat. Usually the flowers in my front yard are deer browsed. I have other areas that I fence so I have flowers to me. The one that has been my go to ground cover is sedum album. The wildlife isn't much interested in these flowers either.

Thanks for mentioning the sedum album. I'll have to check it out. I need get areas fenced. Right now our whole area is a critter feast. I only have the protection of my greenhouse so far.

I love it. I wonder if it would grow here in TN? V. bonariensis I've had for over 20 years. Reseeds everywhere but easily controlled.
Verbena rigida is beautiful here also. It's slightly invasive but not a thug.
