I was supposed to live in California or Oregon...my parents just didn't know it. Everytiome I'm in San Diego, especially Coronado, I drool all over myself as I oooooo and ahhhhhhhh over the plants, trees and flowers.
I spent time in Oregon in 2007 and fell in love at the nurseries. Not with a giuy....with the amazing flowering baskets. I wept almost.
The hot part of your growing season is much longer than our, and probably much drier. That would be difficult to keep things going well. It's hard enough here. : )
Jacki you have such a knack for making me laugh, then I look at the new tufa container and almost pasted out laughing. I love Grumpy. Can't wait to see what you plant in him.
Becky I love that watering can and the pink daisy. They are wonderful together.

Well, today has been a container day. Here are a few of the ones I put together.
I found these two sweet containers at the nursery last week. I just noticed today that the Bluebird has her 2 babies under her.
This little heart shaped one was only a dollar at Hobby Lobby, because it was broken. I love bargains.
The third photo is my new water can I got for a great price because "it leaked" ( in my world that means more drainage).
I planted these two Mexican Myrtle Alternanthera's today. I love this plant. It loves heat and sun. . A Louisiana gardener's dream................................ The second photo was one I planted on June 19th, and it is really growing quickly.
I also painted and hung my little gazebo or whatever it is. I would love to plant a semp, sedum, or succulent in it, but I have no clue as to how to do that without all of the dirt falling out of the edges. I think you can see in the photo, it has a little fence with openings around the bottom edges. Any tips?

Thanks so much Lynn. And I already have the Spurium Tri color from the co op.
Your lydium is so pretty. The sedum growing on the walkway is amazing.
Now today I am going to start putting my semps(from the co op) into containers. Or should I wait until they are bigger? They are very happy in their little 4" pots. I'm almost scared to touch them.
My C. William and Rose Queens look identical don't they?
They look wonderful Debbie.
It wouldn't hurt to put them into containers now. The nice part about the containers is that you can move them if the semps more or less sun. : )

Thanks Becky. Yes, sweet Lynn introduced me to sedums last year and they are tough little buggers. Great by themselves and they make great container fillers.

Becky, if you want something that loves hot scorching sun, get some lantana, too. It comes in all colors and it's great.
I have to redo this container, because the lantana is taking over my Uprite EE's. And the sun is getting far too hot this year for the EE's to remain out in it all day. So, I will transplant the EE's to a container in my morning sun/afternoon shade section.
Normally they love this all day sun area.
But not this year. It seems to have stunted their growth and the leaves are getting blotches on them. This is them normally.
