Hi Susie, as soon as I can get to town I was going to see if there is some type of glue that would stick on Styrofoam, but I was thinking more of stacking layers of it to make it stronger. How about if you cut off strips from the edges of the board, and randomly glue them on top of each other, then when you use the wire brush it would blend the edges together, I would only go maybe two layers thick for the sides. Does this make sense?

For your box, if your babies have come from somewhere cold, they will be fine outside, in fact that would be better. How about if you put your box outside, plant it there. You can cut the sides down to make a shallow tray too, so it won't be heavy.

Thought maybe I would take it out to the GH Mine is not heated But it has very nice benches & It is covered just wasn't sure if they would freeze for we have more cold weather ahead . these are comming from north hill & perennial obsession so not sure if they were in a cold frame or hot house ? I DIDN"T Ask .

I have a briany idea as what I would like to do but to take that 1st step & End up that it won't worry is scaring me .have you ever had that feeling ?? my tummy is in knots over this & The Knife on the table staring at me saying NO NO .

Perennial Obsession does not use a hot house. Here is where she grows here semps. They are lovely plants, very healthy and sturdy.

Here's a picture of what the styrofoam troughs look like this year - they are fantastic! I didn't lose any plants, and they were just abandoned in the bed with all the Sedum in. They are behind the humongous hypertufa planter.

Nice! I have troughs with the low sides like those too. When they blacktopped our driveway last year they smashed one of them. Grumbling I lost a real nice miniature tree that was in it too.

I hate that! It's one thing when I kill something, but when a man does it with a machine - well. A few years ago the grader was going up and down the road with a giant flailing brush cutter - this thing could cut 3" trees no problem - and he flailed my really cool address sign. He didn't even notice, but the pilot truck stopped and offered me a deal I couldn't pass up - they would pay for a new sign. So I billed them $400!

It took me a while, but here's what I replaced it with. Do you think it's worth $400?

Wonderful sign Jacki. How many more can you make with that $400. Or better yet, stuff to make more hypertufa pots. Thumbs up

I think this one would be more difficult to trash - it's pretty solid, plus the sign post is on the up side, not right against the ditch Rolling on the floor laughing
