I made a form for a big trough today and hope to do the hypertufa part tomorrow. Been a while since I've done tufa!

What did you make the form out of Chris?

2" thick blue builders styrofoam. The trough will be 28" x 16" and about 8" deep. It will have 6 legs.

How did you stick it together?

Duct tape. I just finished making the trough and took pictures of the process. I'll post them later today.

That is going to be an amazing trough Chris. Can't wait to see it, especially planted.

Even being hypertufa, I'm sure it's going to be pretty heavy.

I find they're all heavy when filled with dirt.

I just finished another styrofoam trough and planted it mostly with sedums:


Here it is in the group of pots. Three are hypertufa and there's a smaller styrofoam one in front.

Beautiful Tabby. The plants all look so healthy. Do you have any problems with pests? As in deer, squirrels, etc, in Colorado?

Oh yes. We made chicken wire cages to cover all my semps in the winter to keep the squirrels and rabbits from eating them. The varmints don't seem to bother them in the summer.

I will have to give that information to my SIL Tabby. She lives in a suburb of Denver and every winter she looses her semps to squirrels.
She will be so happy to know how to keep them safe through winter. Thank you so much.

Oooh, what suburb? Maybe she's near and we can trade? I'm out west and north near Rocky Flats.

I've seen the rabbits eat them as well as seen all the little rabbit raisins on my semps.

Wait a minute! Tabby lives in Denver, your SIL Tabby lives in Denver..... How many Tabby's can Denver have???
