The thread is old, but I thought I should let everyone know the final result. Although really slow to fill in, the black wreath looks great now (what's that? Two years? About time!) Here's a pic:

I'm working on building more, plus doing some videos on all kinds of creative succulent crafts so I can enable lots of other people too...is that wrong?

Wrong? How could that possible be wrong? Enabling people to get out and garden, and grow things like your great wreath, is a majorly great contribution to society. Big Grin
It is doing really well. The plants look so happy. I must admit I haven't tried it yet.

I had a great time going back and reading this thread. What a way to start my day. Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

Do you have your videos on line, can we see them?

I just took a pic of my wreath the other day. Mine isn't pantyhose just a regular frame and moss wreath but I thought you might like to see how it is doing. It isn't real full either but it is slowly filling in.

Holly, sorry I missed your question! The videos aren't ready for prime time yet, but hopefully, if I can get my act together, by the end of the fall. I'm so scattered, with so many projects in various stages of completion. *sigh* too many fun crafts and great plants, not enough time...

WOW I just found this topic. I have lots of panty hose. As a ex-business woman I have a lot of those sitting in drawers. I was going to cut them up and make one of those ugly braided rugs for the laundry room. This is a better use for them.

Thank you.

Go for it, Cinta! You'll be amazed at how great this works. I've got two (I think) that are two years old, another one is older and those are all finally filling in nicely, and built two more this summer which are looking good. By next year, they'll be spectacular. You need a lot of plants; the best ones for me seem to be some of the little Sempervivum arachnoideum, those like Hookeri, especially. Then they pretty much cover the whole surface, and make almost a groundcover. The Sedum and larger types of Semps stand up over them. It's a great effect.

I guess I'm going to work myself to death. Now I want to make panty hose wreaths.

Holly, where do you get the wreath stand?
