Thanks to you both... not great pictures and not too uncommon Sans but I like them. They are so easy to care for.

Oh, this is when I lived in Phoenix - it's just too hot there for them. Now I live in TN, where it's just too cold! Can't win, huh?

Do you know what type of Sans that is? It would be a good substitute .... Green Grin!

Question ? My Bobshe(grandmother) Always had Snake plants everywhere and they did great for her.. I have lost them in the past but,I got two this year at Walmart . They are so pretty. One is doing
great , adding babies and very healthy, The other is a ghost color(natural) but,its getting rotten spots

I cut out the bad spots but, other leaves are now doing this. It is still producing babies and It is
such a beautiful color I dont want to loose it . Any ideas ? They are both in the same room. I just
make sure they are not too close Just in case

Alan, I got Moonshine from that really cool nursery - mostly succulents - at the far north end of Tucson, maybe even Marana. Darned if I can remember the name... but they had lotsa great plants for pretty good prices. Grew fine for me in a shady spot outside.

Shannon, I don't have a clue, but it sure doesn't sound good. Just for grins and giggles, you might try spraying it with Chamomile Tea, or dusting it with cinnamon - both are anti-fungals.

Of course, you might just want to wait until someone comes along who actually knows what they're talking about..... Rolling on the floor laughing

Shannon ~ if I had to guess, I'd bet it is from being kept too damp and/or too cool conditions.

These need very little water when they are dormant. I think I would try to save it by removing it from the pot and lay the pieces of plants out to dry thoroughly. Then I'd repot and water sparingly till springtime and the new growth starts. Good luck ~ Kristi

I will post a picture of the plant tonight..I have been keeping it dry and warm. What's weird is
the other plant is OK.. I really like the color of this one. Can I safely re-move the babies?

At least that way I will get something to survive Sad I will put it in a "Warmer" room tonight
when I get home from work. Can I use a plant light bulb for it? The palor does not have a window
where I want to put it to keep it warmer.

Thanks alot I tip my hat to you.

Wait, wait, wait...I didn't know they made moonshine in Florida =) I was in error when I said I liked the moonshine plant, the one I thought was moonshine is the 2nd Photo, the one you said you like. I was googling moonshine, and noted that none of them looked like the second photo, then realized Moonshine was the photo below, not above. I love that green and white birdnest one...need to find out what it is so have been doing some searching, still have not found it. Where is Slush when we need him...hehehe!

Shannon,

You should be able to separate pieces of your sans when you look at the roots. If the babies have roots, you can remove them.

I may be wrong on the problem but that would be my first guess. I've not fought fungus on Sans before but it could be an issue. Do any of these photos look like what you have going on? http://www.plantfinder.com/Ser...

If you want to try it, you could take cuttings of the good pieces and try rooting them. I've tried it a few times but am certainly not an expert at that.

I do believe the pale one I have is going to be S. moonshine http://stokestropicals.plants....

S moonlight appears to have a broader blade. http://www.almostedenplants.co...

Actually the birds nest Sansevieria is green and yellow (not white) when exposed to proper lighting. That photo makes the color look even more washed out.

We had a tough summer full of 100° plus temps so it stayed in the shade of the porch. This winter on an enclosed porch hasn't provided the best lighting.

I do need to divide it and will gladly share. I'm just not sure how many pieces there are so I'll offer on a first come basis.

Please mail me and we'll go from there. If anyone lives in a colder area, I will put you on the list and send it when temps warm up.

Pod,
Sorry I have been away.
I like to plant my birdnest into a large dog dish. remember to drill a hole or two in the bottom. The soil you use is very important. Use a fast draining mix. I use cactus 50% with pumice 50% works great. As stated, they don't like to be wet during the winter months and kept warm. The more yellow/white on them the warmer they like it.

Alan, Thanks,
And the above picture is Sansevieria Trifasciata Hahnii Marginated. But the one about that one is Sansevieria Trifasciata Gold Hahnii 'Favorite' , also my favorite.

Pod, I would also like a start from your bird's nest, if you have enough not to ruin your plant by cutting it off. What can I send you in trade? Or if you can figure out a price, I would gladly pay for it. It's beautiful.

I only have one short little Sans right now - it multiplies *really* fast and will take a fair amount of water. Anyone interested?

Edited to add a pic....

I took this picture at a local nursery and the tag said 'Jade' but I assumed it was a leftover tag from a jade plant. What does this look like to you who know your Sansevieria?
