No problem that I can see. I remove many old leaves off my plants all the time. Just a good tug should do the trick. Check to see if any mealies or bugs are at the bottom. Watch putting it into direct sun too soon. Give it time to adjust to full sun if it was in the house too long.

Thanks, Planto, Tiffany, Sue and Stush, for the no-worry hint.

I'd occasionally give the dead leaf a gentle tug. When it is ready to be removed, it will come out freely. If you remove it too quickly, the exposed base where the leaf was removed can rot from watering. And I agree, I don't think you have a plant problem.

Hmm, it's been awhile since anyone posted on this topic. Big Grin

I really don't have the best lighting indoors for plants during the Spring/Summer, but I think I'm over my frustration of killing off just about everyone (with between having somewhat poor lighting and I'm pretty sure that I overwater; bad combination).

I've since bought a 'Parlor Palm,' 'ZZ Plant,' a Bromeliad, and an Aloe hybrid. I couldn't pass up this beauty when I stopped by Home Depot looking for a plant stand. $5! I've seen the same size Sansevieria at Lowes for $10 and they're usually not as pretty!

I'll be waiting until March to repot into a clay pot, so I'm going to have to be very careful with watering it this winter.

And oh yeah, I found a plant stand. Hilarious!

That is a pretty plant stand. Did you get it at Lowes?

I picked up a Sans that looks like that one last year on clearance. It really is a pretty one. I like the bright yellow.

Do you think they are the same?
Thumb of 2015-10-21/Cinta/380e91

About the watering. I only watered my sans once or twice all last winter. I keep them in a very cool room and the lighting is not good in that room, I save the good lighting and warm rooms for my succulents. The Sans can take more of my brutal treatment.

Cinta,
I found this one at Home Depot (Lowes didn't have much yesterday Thumbs down ).

I think they look the same, but I'm not the best with IDs. I think it might be S. trifasciata 'Futura.'

Right now both plants are the size of Futura. Futura has wider leaves as much as 3 inches. With every new pup, it grows larger, then it is Sans. trifasciata Laurentii, which can grow to 50 inches. I love them both.

When my S. Pearsonii flowered I left the seedpods on until they were orange. When I was time to cut off the old stem I threw a couple of the seeds into a pot - and look! I'm thrilled.

2 interesting things. This propagated leaf looks like it has formed 3 pups. Will excavate to bring inside for winter & add another pic soon.

I met my sisters at the local garden centre for coffee this morning and while waiting I was browsing around the houseplants section and found this beauty. It was on sale too. It's potted directly into a horrid ceramic pot but I will re-pot it soon. It is the cultivar "Whitney" do you think? Not a great shot, but just snapped on my phone when I got it home.

By now, all of my house plants are inside, though a few of the pics were taken when they were potted, before bringing in.

The leaf that made 3 pups has been dug up to come in also. One looks possibly albino.

I would love to be able to grow Sans in the ground! I decided to repot my new plant today, as it was planted directly into a ceramic pot, with no drainage. It certainly took some getting out!

Tiffany,
I do see some green on the end of the root rhizome. If any shows up in the plant, that will make that something new. Got all of our attention.
Sue,
Good find. I do get lucky myself finding some really nice Sans in my local Big Box Store.

I was going to look for help with the name of a plant I'm growing and noticed this Sansevieria chat. I love them. I have about 15 different types in my collection. I seen some growing in Africa in full sun on a steep slope in bloom. They seem to be able to deal with anything we give them to grow in. I enjoyed reading all the comments. It made my day♥

TH- I agree, these are resilient plants. In the Orlando FL area, they will grow outside and our occasional day or two of freezing weather doesn't seem to faze them.

@Stush2019, I found this at one of the big box stores awhile back, sitting in water! I brought it home and repotted it - do you think this is 'Black Gold'?
