I like "Mercifully brief". I live in a government city - National Capital of Canada - and there's so much verbosity and hot air around here that I don't need more elsewhere. But I definitely agree that there's a difference between a brief comment that conveys something and one that says no more than "I agree", or "nice plant" or ....

The contest is now officially over! We had 58 different people submit a comment during the contest, and we had a total of 617 comments posted! That's a huge number and way more than I was expecting!
The drawing will occur tomorrow. One of the following names will be randomly selected and will receive from NJBob the generous prize of 250 acorns!!

That's great. Also remember the biggest reward is that you are helping someone make a more knowledgeable decision about a plant.

Me too however many. As I said, things get a bit quieter in January.

IMHO, and I'm only asking for what I want, I'd like any comment to tell me exactly where this plant is growing (sun, shade, clay rock, whatever...), whether it will grow in my zone, and if there are any special needs for it... and, what you did, as an amazing gardener, to make it really thrive!! Thanks, all... I need your help!

ViolaAnn said:Calif_Sue - that quote sounds like a comment from 'Allan P. McConnell'. LOL
ViolaAnn, that was a comment YOU made, I just went to your member page to see your comments after you asked about what would be a helpful comment.
You can always test out the acorn count. Check to see what you have, then make your comment and check the count again. Try it a few times and see what size of comment triggers what portion size of acorn count.

Are you waiting patiently to learn the contest winner, Ann?

Nope. Just got home from church - was lay reader this morning. Have called an extra rehearsal for the handbell group this afternoon and have an orchestra rehearsal this evening. No time to even think about it. |

I meant the other Ann, Flaflwrgrl, who was tapping up the thread. But I see you are Ann too, ViolaA.

Patiently? Hurmpfh! Nope. Lost my patience somewhere in my 40's. They ran way screaming. "If there are no dogs in Heaven, then when I die I want to go where they went." ~~~ Will Rogers
