Carrots are a big deal in our house now that our neighbor is a horse Pepper the horse comes to the fence as soon as she hears/sees us outside. She knows we're good for her carrot fix.

Very interesting! Carrots do come in all of those colors, I've seen the catalog pictures, but have been too traditional to grow any but the orange ones. Now, Teacher, your assignment is to grow some of those wild colored carrots (or at least find some at the farmer's market) and make a carrot wreath.

Carrots have played an important role in my life, too. That's why my hair is red/orange...er, uhh, used to be! I reckon I ate so many carrots growing up I inherited the color. As recent as in my late 30's I could be seen walking around with a carrot in my back pocket, my afternoon snack. (I was working in town at the time, too, public work!)

Shoe (cold and wet outside, warm and toasty inside. Yay!)

All these years I've been weaving wreaths onto limbs of trees in my back yard every time I trim my wisteria. Those vines make great wreaths. In winter I slather the wreaths with peanut butter and nuts, raisins, seeds and when the wreaths are in tatters the next summer, I do it all over again. I wonder what else they would attract if I added carrots for color?

I'd probably have a back yard filled with raccoons, now wouldn't I? My neighbors would love me even more.

Deer, bear, not sure if squirrels like carrots and rabbits can't get up the tree.

No deer, no bears, but I do have a very tall bunny who lives nearby.

A tall bunny? It's name isn't Harvey is it, 6' 3 1/2" tall?
If so he should like your carrots.

I played with Amaryllis this year, Brenda, had a lot of fun with them too. Now that they've bloomed I really need to find something else. It's a long time till spring.

I don't think I'd eat as many carrots if they weren't orange, Gin. It would be like eating blue gravy or something. Yekk!

When the first word of your article was carrot I had to continue reading ... carrots are my favorite vegetable! I've been in Florida for 45 years so I haven't had the pleasure of building a snowman in a long time. The past week or so our newspaper has been showing photo's of Sandmen that tourists have made on the beach ... one was only 18" tall and had a twig for a nose ... and seaweed for hair!

The carrot wreath is unusual and wonderful, I really like the idea of a carrot wreath for the front door.

I'm thinking of looking for some silk carrots, seeing what I can do about making a wreath from them. But I think the foliage is important too, so it's going to have to look like a real carrot. I found the wreath photo in Wiki and it's a good thing because it was free for me to use. I thought it was fun and appropriate for the article. It really is pretty!

I didn't have a clue carrots came in that many colors either. Wonder what a purple carrot salad would look like? Would you be able to tell the raisins from the carrots? Or would it all look like some weird purple concoction? Does a carrot by any other color taste as sweet?
