Oh yes, I like Tom Clothier's site because the germination information is pretty reliable! He gives both temperature and light/dark information. Half the time the seed packets don't tell you whether to cover the seeds or not! grrr....

I can't believe I just now found this Forum.
I'm finding great info here that will help me find new seeds to use for Winter Sowing.

Hi Allison. I found my way here.

We're always happy to have more members here. The more input we have, the more people participating, the more we all learn.

I've belonged to several online seed starting forums, and they tend to be dead for half of the year. Around the first of the year, we all start thinking "seeds", and the forum kicks back into gear.

Yup. I'm already toying with maybe starting some onions, spinach and lettuce out in the GH. Depends on whether I can thaw out the potting soil!

I just went to Patti's Cubit and ordered my tomato seeds. I'll get them sometime this week and will WS them the end of January.
I have had 100% germination of the seed I got from her last year.

I'll definitely do a few tomatoes, but I don't start them until closer to spring.

I do all of mine in Jan and just leave them out. They seem to germinate when the time is right. If I don't get all the tomatoes cleaned out of the beds in the fall, I end up with little tomato plants coming up everywhere. Tough little seeds.

Funny, I'm terrible about cleaning up all the left over fruit, but I never get any tomato volunteers.

I get tomato volunteers too. Often it's early and they freeze out.
