I am getting back into working on terrariums and glass gardens again. This is the closest forum I could find. Sooo .... is it okay to post in this forum? If you'd rather not have terrariums here, no problem. I really wouldn't be offended. Green Grin!

I think a terrarium would be considered a miniature garden under glass Thumbs up

So what is the vine in your new set up?

Thumbs up Cinda, the vine is Partridgeberry (Mitchella repens). It blooms and even has small red berries. Sweet little thing.

I used to make terrariums a lot but got away from it and now getting interested again. (I have 3 cats). Green Grin!

I have never tried one that small. I used to use big 5 gallon water bottles when they were still made of glass. But that was years ago. Now they are mostly, if not all, plastic. Time marches on.

I'd like to see the case you're planting. I favor glass cases over bottles really. I just like the looks of a case.

These are cute and several could be hung in a window. I don't think one of my cats would leave them alone though. Glare

I do have a bunch of old Mason jars and I'm thinking about planting several of those as an "arrangement".

Took a while to get a photo , had to recharge battery in camera.
The glass house is 12X12, My sister gave it to me she had no space to put it where the big dogs would not break it , they like to look out windows Smiling

I haven't been anywhere to look for appropriate plants, all my houseplants are too large .

Wow, that is a great case, Cinda! I have one sort of like your small one inside the big one and it has its own bottom. But there really is no easy way for me to plant it. I would have to just use the top on something else to make it work as a terrarium, I think.

I've found alot of mini plants at the website below. They sell them for terrariums and dish gardens. Ofcourse they also have wonderful AVs and mini-AVs.

I have one that is "in process". It isn't a sealed terrarium. I think of it as a somewhat 'terrarium/dollhouse/dish garden'. So far I've planted:
Inside terrarium: (1) malpighis cocagera, (1) selaginella kraussiana brownii
& (1) oxalis hedysaroides 'rubra' in little clay pot
Outside terrarium: (1) selaginella kraussiana aurea & (2) selaginella that are
bushier but I lost the tags and can't remember the names.
I mist the plants once daily with distilled water. This is my first try at this and so
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the plants survive and flourish. I want to
add table & chairs and another colorful plant to the inside and more plants to
the outside. The violet barn sells their mini plants in 2.5" pots. The packaging
and transit time is excellent. All of the plants I've purchased from them have
arrived in excellent condition. See pic of my terrarium below. Rolling my eyes.

1Anjl - I bought it on Ebay in July 2011 from the seller 'FineWebStores'. It comes in either black or white and
is currently $99. It has risen in price $10 from last year. It isn't sealed or leak proof so you'll need to provide
some kind of tray or container to set it in. I used a boot tray purchased from Gardener's Supply that worked
out great. Especially because I planned to make a garden outside of the greenhouse as well. Hope this info
helps. Sorry I took so long to answer....I've been away from the ATP site for awhile.
