We get various snakes that visit. I welcome the "good guys" as they tend to keep the "bad guys" away. All oak snakes we name Ms. Annie (Annie Oaksnake ) and all the black snakes are Blackie. These pics were taken a few years ago with my 35mm and had to be scanned so they may not be the best.

Nice. I like snakes and appreciate their usefulness ... just hate it when they "surprise" me. Well, I like all of them around here except Copperheads, Water Moccasins, and Rattlers.

amen to that...we had a coral snake in the screen room once. It "became" one with the extra propagne tank and is now in a jar of alcohol

Oh, no snakes here. The idea of poisonius snakes freaks me out. Thank goodness there aren't any around here. But if I know for absolute sure that the snake is not poisonius then snakes don't creep me out. Can't say I like them but not ceepy.

I have a soft spot for all snakes, they tend to leave people alone. There's only one here that I'm wary of and that's the Death Adder. It relies on camouflage so won't move away if it hears you coming. It's easy to tred on them. And they're incredibly fast.

Luckily I've never found one at home. But we get them at work and other places nearby. So if I did find one at home I'd relocate it, probably give it to the wildlife park. Any of the others I just leave be.

We have puff adders here AKA hognose. They can be pretty scary when they posture.

My neighbor says we have rattlers around here..so I am very careful when cleaning around..thankfully have not seen one..she once saw a baby rattler, but it is dead already in one of her boxes in her garage..so I said..uh-oh..if there is a baby..mommy is just around...jipperss....

I can't for the life of me find the picture of the Black Rat Snake I took last summer as it was moving through the front yard. I've looked and looked. If I ever find it, I'll post it.

Our "usual suspects" are fine...I've never had any problem with them.

#1 is an oak snake and #2 is a black snake

Here are two more pics of Ms. Annie. The first showes the round pupils which is an indication that it's NOT venomus. The second is the whole thing...and yes, I was that up close to it

Nice looking snakes! Never could understand why people are so afraid of nonvenomous snakes!

Yes I really like Ms. Annie...there have been times though when it has scared the tar out of me when I've come close to stepping on it...or I look at a tree/bush and we're eyeball to eyeball

Scary, but the venomous ones are really scary!!!

Don't have any here, too cold, I don't mind garter snakes but I think one of those large ones would scare the crap out of me!!

You have to be careful with venomous snakes in Oz but you have to be unlucky to be bitten. I have a Yellow-faced Whipsnake resident in the garden. It is welcome here. But the people who mow the lawn are petrified of it.
I will try and photograph it. That is, if it will cooperate and I don't get the willies.
