Just a few. Still thinking

Heucherella 'solar power'
Heuchera 'root beer' Lots of other with great color as well
A ligularia
Persicaria 'dragons eye'
coleus
Hosta
Ferns

How big are the containers? Are you wanting these to be year around or just for the warm season?

All good suggestions. Coleus came to my mind, always colorful. Mix and match, including green olives.

There are a bunch of coleus that would look good. Endless possibilities.

And impatiens in salmon and orangey tones. And some white to brighten it up.

All so beautiful. I found a website today that allows you to upload an image from your computer and it comes back with a suggested palette. Guess Begonias or impatience would work too. DH doesn't think foliage = color but foliage plants are my favorites.

Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing I got side tracked with another project. I have two shady areas which I have never planted that need attention. Yesterday a very generous gardener shared a bunch of green and variegated hostas which I would like to use but am so terrible at design. Wish I had a knack or flair for design but it just doesn't come easy to me.

I've cleaned out the mess in the area and set some sun plants there but they weren't happy and I have a peony there that is a bunch of nothing so I know I need more shade friendly plants. I was considering lining the paremeter with Annabelle Hydrangea for a foundation planting and putting some of the hosta in front of them and working in some white impatience.

Hi, You provide your project information its very nice, I suggest you that its a shady areas so you have to use some hydroponics kits for your soil. It is best for your plant and also use some growing lights its also help for your plant.

This year I ordered a bunch of caladium bulbs, a few trays of impatience and bought a huge Fushia Gartmeister. Added some elephant ears & begonia whopper. Someone gave me some annebelle hydrandgea, hosta, and calla lily bulbs. It was a difficult year due to the unusual prolonged high heat and drought. I did a lousy job of plantning the caladiums and thanks to one of the members here I have a better perspective on how to plant them next year (I must dig them up and store for the winter in my area). The calla lilies where drop dead gorgeous and I wonder why I never planted them in the past. Confused Everything else did ok except the fushia gartmeister. I will winter it over and plant it in an even shadier location next year. I was shocked to see the hydrangea bloom the first year and really thrived. In a couple of years it will be a nice foundation planting. I have it in other areas in the garden and it is really a work horse here. It's a work in progress and coming along nicely. I can see the hummingbird feeder out of the kitchen window and the hummers are keeping us entertained.

I will recommend you Ferns coleus and Hosta. Although all these three are might be interesting to use for you but the Hosta is one I like the most of them. So, you should try it first, then other.

The fushia gartmeister already bit it. The bulbs are looking good. Seems so long to wait, but the bulbs don't get going here until late June/early July. I moved a lot a hosta to the bed and look forward to seeing if they all made it. I transplanted Hydrangea 'Annabelle' cuttings up against the house. Should take them a couple of year to fill in. This little guy should arrive any day now. I'll keep him in the kitchen until spring. He's only 8x10. Want to plant him with something that doesn't trail and cover up the pot.

How long do the Calla lilies bloom? There might be another coop this year!
