My orchids just started blooming a few days ago. I am sorry to say they didn't come with names when I bought them. Here is my most colorful.

All but 3 of mine are phals. I have one dendrobum (hope the spelling is correct), one oncidium 'Sharry Baby' (only one I know the name of) and one that I'm not sure what kind it is. Pictured here.

Looks like an oncidium to me. Did it bloom?

Here is a bud opening on my Cym Eastern Morning 'Shunshoku.' And taking its time to open. I am really excited because it is an Asian hybrid I've never seen that I bought from Jason Fischer (Orchids Limited). I remember at the big Japanese orchid show a few years ago, I loved a lot of the cym pics online that started with "Eastern." So that's why I bought this.
Cym. goeringii x Cym. lowianum.

Kathy, it bloomed last year, I am sorry to say I can't remember what it even looked like. When it blooms this year I will be sure to take a picture and post it.

One other excitement but probably long term excitement. My Vanda lamellata has a spike!

Is that the same Cym which looks so nice on top of the page? I like that it is now seamless!
Good looking spike!

Lynn, nice Phals!
And - I am looking at the Orchid planted into Sphagnum Moss. How long do you have it growing in this medium without changing it? If the Sphag is older than half a year, I would consider re-potting, perhaps into fresh bark mix.

Thanks, Ursula. I like it seamless better too.
No that is another rounded petaled cym. I obviously bought it when the Valentine's Love was out of bloom. VL usually blooms in Oct-Nov but this year it's February! Goes with your theory about things blooming late this year. Did you say lack of light in summer?

Lynn, I'm with Ursula on the sphagnum. I've lost so many phals because I didn't repot. But I do water a lot.

Not sure what's happening at work, but all our vandaceous orchids are going downhill rapidly. We are doing nothing different in culture. They always slow down in winter but roots are dying and leaves are falling. I expect we will loose all of them in short notice...a real bummer.

I've been losing leaves on the V. coerulea when we hit a cold spell. Thinking of moving it to the warm room soon.Could it be that they get too cold at night (with a fan, etc. I expect)???

New today: Epicattleya 'Siam Jade.'

Hey, that is nice Kathy!!

Todd, I am sorry to hear it.
My Vandas/Ascdas are hanging next to each other and I have to flood them daily - the whole plant, but they do dry up very fast in my set up.

My Sc Crystelle Smith 'Rheagan' is now fully open. 3 spikes.
I am glad I picked it up last Winter after always seeing it posted by several of you.
