Got these 2 new lovely pelargoniums after hanging around Ace Hardware this morning...ah..the temptation to get them is such!!

Has anyone grown these lovelies? Any special pointers/suggestions:

The tag says it is a Pelargonium crispum 'Prince Rupert' - I liked the crinkly varigated leaves Lovey dubby
Thumb of 2012-04-07/tarev/32ef38

And this other one says it is a Pelargonium hortorum 'Vancouver Centennial' - the leaves reminds me of maple leaves during Fall Lovey dubby

I'v grown 'Vancouver Centennial' . They are both very nice. They like just a bit more shade than a regular Pel. I had mine in AM sun until aout 1:00. Love the foliage.

I have both of them, the P. crispum again, I just picked up recently, left my other one in my last garden. The Vancouver Centennial I have had off and on for years, it a popular one, common in most nurseries. They are both easy to grow, they don't like frosty nights. I just prune them back late winter and they send out new growth in the spring.

I just planted my Pelargonium crispum 'Prince Rupert' yesterday in a larger pot, I had the same label and Monrovia container. I noticed it said it makes a good standard so that's what I will keep it pruned to. Thumbs up

I noticed this Pel. crispum "Prince Rupert" seems to enjoy being in a shadier side, while the Pel. hortorum 'Vancouver Centennial' basks in more sun. Prince Rupert only pushed that bloom when I put it in a shadier side. Unless it was just sheer timing Rolling my eyes. Big Grin

Could be a coincidence, I have always had all of mine in mostly sun with maybe just shade in the late afternoons.

Pel. Prince Rupert is back in bloom..I placed it back in a sunny area a week and a half ago, but it went cool and very windy then. Yesterday, as we start hitting low 90's, it has pushed some more blooms!

That is a nice one. There is a 'Happy Thought Red' as well. Not a dark red kind of like tomato soup red.
