Chris, If it is producing pollen, try to cross with another (or more than one) type of semp. The seed, if any results, might produce some very interesting types.

Hurray! Hurray! I'll go get your lab coat Chris. I'll even hold the instruments. That would be so much fun to see what came from it. Wish you had a Tree Beard blooming. Blinking

Me too - that would be a cool combo. Does anybody else have Grigg's Surprise that has bloomed? Just wondering if that might be "normal" because the plant is strange to start with. Blinking

I've never had one bloom, but am watching a strange Oddity producing a sort-of spike with branches. I'm thinking at this point that its just some weird offsets being produced, but hoping its going to flower so I can try my hand on some crosses. I wasn't sure that Grigg's ever flowered until I saw your pics. (btw, would like to see more pics, some showing some different perspectives if you can - its a really rare event!)

Also, do you know that you can store most pollen in the refrigerator for a few weeks, so you may want to preserve some of it to get max opportunity for crosses.

Still haven't seen an Oddity flower though.

I thought it might be a rare event because I've never heard of one flowering before. I did not know you could store pollen - interesting. Worth a try! I'll try to get more pix this weekend and follow with more pics as it progresses.

Observation: the flower shape mirrors the shape of the plant (bunches of bananas come to mind! Hilarious! )

When I first saw them at Timberline or was it here at ATP, I kept calling it Banana Surprise, and it sure lives up to that name. Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing
