I agree with this statement. The most recent wave of refugees from "the other place"...well, many of their posts show that they have banded together and want to stay that way now that they are here. One feels very much like an outsider and does not dare to join in their conversation now that they are here on ATP. This thread is so much different; completely open and refreshing
...it must be "The Lucy Effect".
For those of you who don't yet know me I am in the middle of moving...into a 26 foot travel trailer with 2 dogs and a kitten. Last night was our first sleepover at the new place. We survived.
But there is no internet over there so I am reading and posting as fast as I can while on borrowed time.
Thank you lourspolaire for starting this thread.
Sylvain, although I do not know you in real life I have, in a sense, met you before. Back in high school we had a very eccentric English teacher - his name was Mr. Q. He could not handle the pressures of the job and left for greener pastures. Several years later I found myself in a circle of friends which included...no...that's not right...the entire group
rotated around Mr Q (by then I was on a first-name basis with the man and called him David). He was entertaining, an excellent cook, had knowledge of any and every subject on could name, he loved to throw parties and he WAS the life of the party.
He would rather foot the bill and host the party thus ensuring that he would be the center of attention - in a good way.
He loved to travel, always remembering to bring gifts for his friends. He once brought me an entire bag of Saffron from Egypt as a thank you gift. Yes, Sylvain, I know you and already love you. Look forward to this being the longest and most active thread here on ATP. Give Lucy a hug from me, my dogs and the cat...well, maybe not the cat.
If I don't freeze to death at the new place I'll see y'all tomorrow.
