Once again I bought a bromeliad and I really hope to keep this one alive and thriving. I don't know why, I live in a tropical climate, I see you guys in Florida have them all over and they do fine. Mine may live for a year or so but they fade and die.

I'm not going to put this one in the ground, and I did ask for advice from the girl at the nursery. She said no direct sun, water only once a week and keep a little water in the leaf cups, she also said that in the rainy season, summer, to move it farther in to a terrace so it does not get any rain on it. Maybe that will help? I just don't know why they do fine laying around under trees in Florida and I can't keep one alive. Grumbling

This is a big one and I just loved the markings, plus it has a large bloom or bud. Right now I've got it sitting on a philodendron while I look for a pot for it. It was a bit expensive for here, around $15us, but... I'm a sucker.
