Good thoughts, Rita. Smiling I was considering perimeter plants only. The landscape timbers were here when I bought the house, just in other places. I used them, along with some good-sized rocks, to line the bottom of the fence so I would pass a pet adoption home inspection. Given termites, carpenter ants, and such being so prevalent in these parts, thinking it is counterproductive to have them around. Tried Daylilies back there not too long after I got the house, but they didn't fare well. Probably because I COMPLETELY ignored them. Hilarious! This time, I would have a plan. Thumbs up The middle of the yard is the only area to get anything close to full sun all day, which means any vegetable beds would have to go there. Might be easier for me to contribute to the community garden and let them bring me produce. Big Grin

I don't want to curtail the dogs' area too much since we don't go for walks; they would probably become even more bored than they are now. Was thinking also of what I can put back there for their entertainment.

You are welcome, Shannon. Group hug Glad you like them--both the dogs and the photographs. Rolling on the floor laughing

I like those ideas, Margaret. Thumbs up
It’s okay to not know all the answers.
