Here's a fun (and quick) way to make a faux hypertufa planter for our favorite hardy succulent plants:

This is a fish box, used for shipping salmon, but the main thing is to use one that has 1" thick sides (the beverage and camping coolers are too thin).

Scrape off the logo with a razor blade, then rough up the rest of it. Using a heat paint stripper gun, carefully glaze over the whole surface. You can sand it but I wanted it rugged and rustic looking.

The paint I used is floor and porch acrylic paint (no smell!) and then acrylic craft paints - total outlay: $16 for the floor paint, $5 for the craft paints.

Plant your favorite Jovibarba, Sempervivum or Sedum (or all three!) and enjoy.

The best part of this project? I finished this whole deal in one day (in increments of a few minutes each step) as opposed to the real hypertufa which can take days or weeks until you can display your finished pot!

Just wanted to add; this was not my idea; the information came from here; http://www.srgc.org.uk/feature...
