Even, It's blood meal, not bone meal. I'm not sure how often it needs to be applied. Just don't overdo it- it's a pretty strong N source and can cause excessive growth in height and foliage while decreasing flowers.

I've not had very good results with blood meal as a deterrent. I get much better results with Liquid Fence. I'm not very good about applying it often enough though- It smells so bad that it repels humans (me) too.
