I use black on clear tape with my P-touch and it is unobtrustive and has lasted well into 4 years with no fading. I stick them to the plain (fairly inexpensive) aluminium 2-pronged stakes which can be adjusted heightwise as you like, and can get two lines on the label if need be. I only label the plants in my herb garden - for my perennials I just stick a short bamboo stick in the ground as they die back in the fall so I remember there is something there.
I want to live in a world where the chicken can cross the road without its motives being questioned.
