Our next mtg ( May 26) will be the plant auction for our college scholarship fund. We'll have big gorgeous plants and hanging baskets that are auctioned off to the members and guests....things that are unusual, or large, or hard to find, etc. There's also a silent auction of garden things that members donate....gardening tools, books, seeds, pots, etc.
( Last year I donated an outdoor chandelier using solar lights).

I went out on the courtyard barefooted last night to get the skullcap, so I could read the tag...and left the front door open. When I came back inside, I noticed a "leaf" on the floor and stooped to pick it up. It was a small scorpion. It must have scurried in the front door in the few seconds it took me to retrieve the pot. He was curved into a little ball. I called to DH to come quick, and he sent the intruder to scorpion heaven. I think we're going to see more of them around because of the drought. I have ants in pots this year...lots of them...and all kinds of bugs outdoors. I think we're going to have to spray the bad stuff around the perimeter of the house this year. Both neighbors have pest control services...so I think the bugs are migrating to our yard!
