Update: The bill came yesterday for the emergency room visit right before I left for the mtg... No itemized explanation of charges, just the full amount and that it was covered by insurance with a zero balance. The charges were a little staggering....$30,461.00. I can't imagine what would happen if we didn't have insurance. I tried to scan the bottom of the bill to send to my niece, but the type came out blurry. She guessed it would be about $700. I jokingly guessed nearer $100K, really figuring about $5K. I want to call them and ask for an itemized bill, but I'll wait until I know for sure the insurance has signed off on it all....
