The thread is old, but I thought I should let everyone know the final result. Although really slow to fill in, the black wreath looks great now (what's that? Two years? About time!) Here's a pic:
I'm working on building more, plus doing some videos on all kinds of creative succulent crafts so I can enable lots of other people too...is that wrong?
