Last year, I tried making Apple Pie Jam. I made three batches, I think, all with different types of apples from the local orchard. I really like it, although I don't eat a lot of bread and jam. I did use some in a little pie dough and it was good. I laid the dough out on a cookie sheet, put the jam on half with a few little dabs of butter, some chopped pecans, then folded it over to make a half moon shape, sealed the edges and baked. It was good!

Edited to add... Went to the orchard site to be sure of the names of the apples we like the best. I tend to cook with them more than eat fresh. Baked, crisp, apple butter, pie, stewed. Pristine, Zestar, Rubinette and Pinova.

Ii highly recommend the ugly Rubinette if you can find them.
