Been lurking here, looking at the beautiful & absolutely STUNNING hummingbird photos! I only have like 4 little broadtails hummers here. I wish I had more. My mom in southern NM gets absolutely SWAMPED by hummers every year. When I visited here in Aug 2010, I took some pictures. Most of the pictures didn't come out, but got some OK pics of some of her rufus hummers. She gets rufus, calliopes, broadtails, ruby throated, and one other I can't remember.. Allens? Something like that.

Here's a bad short video of what it sounds like in the middle of the day. It's far far worse dawn/dusk. The hummers are SOOOO not afraid of humans. When I was a teenager, I'd have to fill the feeders and they'd be buzzing me, waiting impatiently for me to hang the feeders back up. In fact, they'd perch on my fingers while I was hanging them!
