Char, glar you still have your power!
-4 here this morning when I took the dogs out. Beautiful bright blue clear sky. Sun shining thousands of diamonds on the snow as it shines morning light through the woods.
Josie refused to "go" ... She just kept lifting one leg up after the other and looking pitiful. So, I brought her in, and found her winter socks and boots and put them on for the first time this year. She has never really liked wearing them... She just humors me and puts up with it. Well, this morning, I think she figured out what their function was! She did part of what she needed to, but still refused to do her "#1" with the boots on. So, back inside. This time, I put Musher's Secret Paw Wax on her pads, fed her to give it time to soak in and tried again. She ran out, did her thing and ran back in lickity split!
(Josie has boots because as my Service Dog, we go out to places where there has been a lot of salt put down, which could damage her paws... So I have trained her to wear boots if need be...but that does not mean that she does not think they are totally beneath her dignity!)
Our old dog, Allie has more hair on her feet and does not seem nearly as sensitive. she went out, took care of business, came back in. Usually she likes to stand and observe a few minutes... Look for squirrels, smell for rabbits.. Not this morning. "let me back in, please!"
Actually, I think Josie is either a Prima Donna, or... Possibly spoiled rotten... For a Border Collie, she hates to get her feet in any mud, wet, etc. Very Prissy!
I was thinking about the Life Below Zero people, and the Alaska Last Frontier... With out houses in -40 degrees... And very happy I have indoor plumbing this morning!
