I like my tools to remind me of the people in my life, so I beg tools off relatives they don't want any more or can't use. My father isn't well and won't get better, and he asked me the other day if there was anything I wanted from the house. I asked for his two old beat up aluminium watering cans so I can trip over them in the garden for the next thirty five years and think of him. He laughed , and said that was what he expected rather than the ornaments and pictures that are more attached to the house than the people.
I hope my kids in due course will take these pieces off me. It means every time I use the tools in the garden they have an association more than the store they were bought in. Double extra feel good factor.
