I start my lilies in 1 quart ziplock bags or those oversized sandwich bags. They are filled with mix to a few inches from the top. I keep the bags open but more humidity is retained this way, versus an open pot. If you use an open pot you will really have to keep an eye on them to make sure the top doesn't dry out and abort germinated seeds.

I just finished up getting my tomato seeds started in this same mix Hurray! . Mmmm mmmm good, home grown maters Lovey dubby !
