Well, Mom said she saw a hummingbird on my "big pink bromeliad" the other day. I got her to point it out and realized she meant my Aechmea gamosepala. I've seen a hummingbird nectar on a bromeliad once before, a few years ago, but I still thought it was rare. Apparently, not so much. So I was in the house today when Mom yelled at me to come see a butterfly she couldn't identify. By the time I got outside the butterfly was gone but a hummingbird was on that bromeliad! It then went around the front driveway and hit all the bromeliads that were blooming! Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera. So I went inside, grabbed my camera, and proceeded to stake out the joint for two hours (the tops of my feet are now sunburned with a weird pattern from the sandal strap going across my feet). I'm also fairly certain my neighbors think I'm spying on them. Anyway, I saw the hummingbird about an hour in but it got scared and flew away into my neighbor's bromeliads! Mom came out later to get the mail and I told her to stay because I thought she was lucky. We sat down on the bench in the entryway and after a few minutes it came back and I finally got my pictures! Here they are but they're all kind of dark because of the side I was on.
