We could substitute sedum for any plant that we like but turns out to be a bad actor. I'm thinking in particular about lilies (true ones) that have a particular genetic background (L. lankongense). After around 20 years of growing lilies I have yet to have one survive. I even received some as a bonus this past spring and they didn't even come up! Unlike inexpensive semps these guys are 10, 15 or $20 and more to acquire a single bulb!
