Greg, that sounds like the one you shared with me last year. Mine also acted like it was going to cone (slowly over the winter... it elongated a bit). I noticed today that there appears to be little offsets forming deep in the leaves, part way up the plant (not from the base area). How about taking a real close look at yours when you have daylight...
