Hello, Daylily folks! I am not one of you, meaning I don't grow Dayliies and I know very little about them. But I went to a Daylily show yesterday to take photos to add to the database, get out of my house, and hopefully tease and torment you guys with their loveliness! You've probably seen most of these before because when I put them in the database there were less than ten where I posted the first photo. But that's always exciting, right?

Now, the show was in a small room at the St. Pete First Baptist Church which is apparently where the club meets. The vendor set up there was Johnson Daylily Garden. You can check out their website here: http://www.johnsondaylily.com/ The show was split into two sections: flower on scape, and flowers off scape. They also had them sorted into categories that I somewhat understood. Things like miniatures, doubles, and spider. They also had voting where you could choose your three favorite on scape and three favorite off scape. For not being a Daylily person, it was harder than I thought! Also, I learned what the term "chicken fat" means in regards to Daylily blooms. Hilarious!

I'll split this into a couple posts to lessen the risk of me losing the entire thing. So let's start the virtual show! First up were the off scape flowers. Also, sorry if I'm blurry in some photos. I was trying to stay out of the way and be quick.

Samar Star Fire

Violet Sabrewing

Butterscotch Ruffles

The next grouping said "Seedling". Since Daylilies don't come true from seed, I guess this is where people plant seeds and just see what comes up? Sounds fun. So here are the seedlings people brought in.

Tuscawilla Snowdrift

Pistachio Eyes

Midnight Raider

Archaeopteryx Blinking

This label said "Springfield Clan" but it didn't look like any of the other pictures so I think it might be mislabeled, too.

Well, that's it for the off-scape blooms. I'm going to give my eyes and fingers a little break and come back with the on-scape varieties in a bit. And there were very few repeats between the two so expect entirely different varieties when I come back!
