AHS is there to help daylily enthusiasts, yes, not to have someone lift the images and use them for profit. Those images are entrusted to them from the hybridizers. They have enough problems with people taking their photos off their websites, it shouldn't happen from the AHS website, with the bold AHS watermark across each image. That is there for the same reason, as part of a copyright. Also at the bottom of every page is says "copyright" with a year.

Under the Federal Copyright Act of 1976, photographs are protected by copyright from the moment of creation.
Unless you have permission from the photographer, you can’t copy, distribute, publicly display, like putting them online.

Most of your listings are using AHS images, except one, the seed one. The image clearly shows the DG copyright in the upper left side along with my user name.

There are plenty of free photo resizing programs, I use Picasa and http://pixlr.com/express/
