Here are a few more of the seedlings which were rowed out this spring that are starting to show some personality.
Al those who were here for the clinic this past spring saw a few of the very FAT leaved seedlings that I had. The group this spring is already showing some "pleasingly plump" seedlings but there are also rows where the leaves are extremely thin, they look like shoe-string potatoes! I didn't think I'd like that look but it's a nice contrast to the wide guys, especially these that are multi-leaved and sort of upright in habit.
As you might imagine, the seedlings from Heart of Darkness X Borscht and Borscht X its watermarked sibling have produced all sorts of vividly colored rosettes. Many of these appear to be year round colored rosettes. One may be chimeral as it's showing sectors of red and green. These are going to be fun groups for the clinic next spring.
There are lots of tufted and cobweb seedlings from self-pollination of the larger tufted types, hoping to get bigger and bigger cobwebs. Some are showing good red colors , especially in the F2 of the Killer X Denise's Cobweb groups.
Plastic has been a difficult parent for me mostly giving chaff, but I have ONE from Plastic X Missouri Rose that is an odd pinkish tone with more of the shape of Plastic.
I'm going to end tonight with a seedling from the '14 seedling group. This one was rowed out right after the clinic and was one of those FAT ones we all liked. The main rosette is now 10" across. I think I might have my Echevaria substitute. This is from Jungle Shadows breeding so I'm hoping for a very dark purple spring color.
OK enjoy!
