Ecscuba's blog: Solar pool cover arrived today

Been eagerly awaiting it. Was surprised it doesn't seem all that hard to manage. Have to wait until the rain clears out of here to install it. Alliplugs haven't arrived yet and I will need those for the inside I think. In the meantime I can give serious thought to exactly how to place it. Important to me to be able to open roof cents.

Went to Goodwill and found lots of "treasures" for the GH and garden: terra cotta pots, cute decorative trays and planters and a wonderful very large beautiful metal sun face. Will be great in my "funky garden". And a heavy wood narrow cabinet handmade from recycled materials. Funky with corrugated metal down the sides and back. Has two shelves and top is just wide enough to sit a tray there and work on transplants.

Have decided to add second GH for sure and but it up against the current one will be easiest. It will then be 6 x 16. Plenty of space for a hobbyist I think. Will put two long 8' rows of raised bed planter in there and will use for tomatoes, peppers, squash, etc. plus it should give off hear at night.

Discovered that tomatoes need about 2 qt of water a day and I've been giving them way less out thinking I was discouraging mold. Explains the dry leaves!! Buy they are making it and I will water more generously. All in all am happy with this first exploratory GH gardening and see it as a year of learning. If there is any produce for the table it will be surprisingly delightful. I am not putting much pressure as I am "in GH school"!
