Everyday Daylilies
Posted on Nov 15, 2014 4:06 PM

Nov. 2014

Snow on the ground and already I'm dreaming of spring. My daylily spring order that is! Last summer I planted fifty more daylilies into the smallish space I call a garden. That's on top of the 150 already ensconced in whatever nook or cranny I could find! The joy of daylilies, besides the form and colors, is the fact that you can almost always fit another one in. At least this is my theory which I will test to the limits in the coming years.
Last summer I was so excited to plant the Gossard daylilies I had bought." Heavenly United We Stand" ," Atomic Firefly", " Heavenly Ginger Snap", " Volcanic Eruption", " Purple Badger", Buzz Saw" etc..... What was really thrilling was that all of these actually bloomed their first summer (2014) ! So many years I buy daylilies and they don't bloom the same year , or even the year after. So this batch of daylilies were great! I bought these daylilies from Coral Kincaid at Nova Scotia Daylilies. Coral is wonderful; helpful, kind, knowledgeable. Her plants are the best; and you receive two or three fans of each daylily; sometimes more. My bonus daylily was " Aunt Yoo Hoo" , a beautiful UF hybridized by Coral Kincaid. It's listed as a "pink diamond dusted polychrome" but that doesn't do it justice as it just glows in the garden!
Well it's getting late so here's to more sweet daylily dreams and large spring orders!
