Although I've ordered from dozens of seed companies over the past few years, and I am doing recommendations, only 2 warrant my going the extra step of writing a review here. Pinetree is one of them. Their shipping and seed pricing are about the best you can get. Germination is always fantastic. And, I've had occasion to call (at one point their website didn't say which Asclepias the milkweed was) and the call was a joy. This is the first company I order from and check out, then I add others for what I want that they don't carry. They used to be noted for selling small packs of seed at reasonable prices - but 3 sellers I know of send much smaller packets than Pinetree but don't advertise it as such. They're really decent-sized packets for the home gardener.

I originally posted this in the forums before I realized there was a "review" feature here.

I had never heard of Pinetree Garden Seeds (superseeds.com) before I joined here. I wanted to get some ornamental peppers and I found a variety called "Black Pearl" that really spoke to me. I ordered several seed packets of flowers from this company as well as the pepper seeds.

The seeds I bought came in a packet of 5. When I got them, everything was packaged well but there were only 4 seeds. I didn't know whether a seed had fallen out out of the packet into the envelope (very possible, as they are tiny), or one had been left out (also possible) but I contacted the company and they not only send me an extra seed--they sent me a whole packet. It was a very nice first impression.

I'm starting the seeds on a staggered schedule so that I can try to grow a couple indoors and a couple outdoors once warmer weather gets here. Here is a picture of the first seedling. As you can see, it is heavy, dark, and strong.

The stem was purple (black) as soon as it sprouted and the cotyledons are already turning purple (black). I love it already. lol

I order from Pinetree every year. They offer smaller quantities of seeds at a price that's hard to beat. I've always had good germination results too.

Love that this company offers smaller packets of seeds for a very reasonable price. They have a great selection of veggies and herbs; shipping was very prompt.

Pinetree was our main go-to seed supplier for many years because of their low prices and high-quality seed. We purchased veggie, cover crop, and some annual flower seeds from them every year and always had good germination rates. I haven't ordered for the past five or so years, though, since I now rely more on harvesting my own seed and participating in seed swaps.

I've been getting my seeds from these guys for many years now. The quantity is smaller than some other places, but the price reflects this. They have a great selection of veggies and flowers. I don't grow acres of vegetables, so it works perfectly for me - I don't have a bunch of leftover seeds and I can try more varieties. I also get seed potatoes and other spring bulbs from them - all reliably good quality. They have a nice selection of garden books, craft supplies, seed starting supplies, and lots of interesting misc. as well. Their customer service is the best!

Pinetree is one of my go-to seed companies, I've ordered from them for at least the past 6 years. Their prices reflect the fact that there are fewer seeds per packet than many companies sell, which is ideal for home gardeners who want to try different varieties. Their seeds have always germinated reliably for me, and they offer a wide range of items.

I have been ordering from Pinetree for many years. Their shipping isn't always the fastest, but I get good germination from them. Most seed counts are low, but that matches the lower prices.

I think Pinetree is a good source for small quantities of seeds. For larger quantities of one kind of seed, another company might be better.

I have ordered seeds, tools, books, etc. from Pinetree for years and years. I am not thrilled with their website. I prefer to get the paper catalog, make a list, and call them. Customer service has always been excellent.

I really like the Pinetree Lettuce mix. Has a super selection of colorful tasty lettuce! I grow two crops of it each year, and have for at least 20 years.

They are also my source for my favorite cucumber, Sweet Success. One year they ran out and sent me Diva instead, and we liked it so much that I now order both of them. Here is Sweet Success growing on some fencing I use.

I didn't order from Pinetree this year, but I have in the past and was very happy with the selection and prices. I will order from them again.

I have ordered from Pinetree on an annual basis, sometimes biannual.

I have purchased assorted vegetables, melons, and herb seed in the past.

I really like their seed selection and find the service first rate.

The website took a bit of work to navigate, but for the most part it is efficient.

I have had excellent germination from this companys' seed stock.

l look forward to their new catalogues so I can assemble my next seed order.
