A visit to an Amity Abloom open house is like attending a garden party. The owners, Charles and Cynthia Lucias are gracious hosts who possess an incredible amount of knowledge about daylilies. They live on a seven acre property that has beautifully planned and maintained display gardens where you can explore the over 1,600 daylilies that they have planted. Incredibly, all are labeled. They have a gazebo where you may take a seat and drink in the beauty that surrounds you. They even offer light refreshments. At the back of the property are the sales gardens where you may choose among the 700 cultivars available for sale.

One thing that I particularly appreciate about the Charles and Cynthia is the fact that they only sell daylilies that have succeeded and thrived in their display gardens. Thus if you garden in zone 6a you feel confident that the variety is suitable for your area. The plants are competitively priced. They will dig your plant while you are on site; however, I have always chosen to have mine shipped. The plants that arrived were beautiful specimens of at least three fans. Planted in August they bloomed beautifully the following summer.

If you live anywhere near Columbus, Ohio, a Saturday outing to visit Amity Abloom makes for a great day. I heartily recommend Amity Abloom as the place to purchase daylilies.
